Dr Colman Byrne

LRCP & SI MB BCh BAO MRCPI MICGP

Colman was born in Dundalk and received a wonderful education in The Friary and The Marist. He attended The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and graduated with an honours degree in 2003. He was awarded first place in his graduating class in paediatrics and the Lyons Medal in Surgery from Beaumont Hospital.

He trained in medicine in Beaumont Hospital and in 2006 received his diploma for Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland before he travelled and worked in Tanzania, South America and Australia.

In 2008 he commenced training in General Practice graduating in 2012 and returned to work in Dundalk.

Colman loves his work as a family doctor and also is committed to education and social issues. He is a trainer of the GPs of tomorrow as a GP Trainer with the ICGP and he also works with the addiction services.
In his spare time he spends most of his time with his family or playing tennis in Dundalk tennis club where he is the club secretary.


 

Dr Maeve Byrne

LRCP & SI MB BCh BAO MICGP DRCOG DipDerm

Maeve is the youngest of the Byrne siblings, having grown up in Dundalk and attended the Friary Primary School and Dun Lughaidh Secondary School.

She graduated from The Royal College of Surgeons in 2005 with a First Class Honours Degree. She won several medals whilst in college, most significantly the McNaughton Jones Gold Medal for first place in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Maeve completed The Trinity GP training Scheme, graduating in 2010.

Areas of particular interest are women’s health and dermatology. Maeve is a tutor in the insertion and removal of Long Acting Reversal Contraceptive devices (contraceptive coils and implants). Maeve achieved First Class Honours in the Diploma in Dermatology from UCD in 2010. Maeve also has trained in anti wrinkle injections, dermal fillers and Profhilo. (Please note that Maeve is not a consultant dermatologist).

In her spare time, Maeve is fully occupied running around after her two young children.


 

Dr Mary Spruhan

MB BCh BAO MICGP DRCOG

Mary hails from the Sunny South East and had a previous career as a nurse in St Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin before returning to college to study medicine. She qualified from University College Cork with an Honours Degree in 2017.

Mary has a keen interest in women’s health, palliative care and medicine in general. To date she has completed a Diploma from the RCOG and Certificate in Palliative Care from the ICGP.

In her spare time Mary is an avid runner, having completed the Dublin marathon in 2009. Mary also enjoys swimming, cycling and keeping fit whilst also spending some quality time with her family.

Dr Uwakmfon is a fourth year GP trainee on the North East GP Training Scheme.
